In most states, you will need a bachelor’s degree in the fine arts area you plan on teaching such as music, art, choral music, or drama. A few states, like California, require an extra year of schooling with coursework in secondary education. Other states such as Georgia, require fine arts teachers to pass the PRAXIS II exam in the subject they are preparing to teach. Many states require a specific teaching certificate for those who teach secondary levels.
