Middle School Teaching Jobs
Teaching middle school-level students can be an exciting and rewarding job. Middle schools need teachers who can provide instruction in key subjects that help prepare students for their high school and college careers. Public and private schools across the U.S. are in need of qualified teachers who can teach middle school or junior high classes. Regions vary when it comes to classifying middle school students, but generally, it encompasses sixth through ninth grades.
Middle school teachers are in high demand so if you are interested in teaching at that level you have many opportunities. Schools in every state from Maryland to Georgia, Texas to Tennessee are always in need of qualified middle school teachers.
Middle School Teacher Certifications and Qualifications
Certification for middle school teachers can vary greatly from state to state. You will, of course, need a bachelor’s degree in education as well as participate in the state’s required teacher prep program. Some states require only an endorsement in the middle school subject you plan to teach. So if you plan on teaching middle school math, you will need to take additional college-level courses and pass the Praxis (or equivalent) skills tests for math teachers. However, for the upper middle grades, seventh through ninth grades, some states require a secondary endorsement or a secondary school teacher license. You may also be able to take an alternative path to obtain a teaching certificate if you hold a bachelor’s in the subject or area you desire to teach.
Let us help you find a middle school teaching job. We keep an extensive list of current openings for middle school teachers and can help you connect with the school of your choice. Schools in every state across the country need qualified middle school and junior high instructors for their classrooms. Let us help you find a teaching job in your location.
