Teach in Tennessee
Tennessee has 147 school districts with over 1,700 schools serving students and families across the state. Parents can choose to enroll their children in traditional public schools, public magnet, public charter, or private schools. There are also 57 virtual schools that are overseen by the school districts. If you want to teach in Tennessee, you have a wide variety of options when it comes to school settings.
If you are interested in teaching in Tennessee, there are districts with larger school systems such as Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knox, TN. But there are also plenty of smaller schools to choose from as well including Rogersville, Johnson City, Martin, and Pulaski, TN. Tennessee schools provide a wide variety of subjects and grade levels that need qualified teachers.
Tennessee Teacher Certification and Qualifications
Tennessee has a tiered licensure system for teachers. To be eligible for an entry-level teaching certificate, you must hold a bachelor’s degree and complete the state’s teacher prep program. Teaching candidates must also take the state assessments for educators and participate in continuing education as they move through the tiered certification process. Alternative pathways to teacher certification are available for those who hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-education-related field.
Let us help you find a teaching job in Tennessee. We maintain a list of all current openings in the private and public schools in Tennessee. Schools across the state often have openings for elementary-level teachers as well as a need for middle and high school educators. Whether your certification is for the elementary grades, or a subject-specific course, we can help you find a position that matches your certification, skills, and preferences.
