Certified Reading Specialist – Chester, PA
Pay: From $32-$34/hr, based off experienceBlazer Jobs is seeking an experienced Certified Reading Specialist for a full-time role with a partnering school district in Chester, PA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about literacy instruction and skilled in providing targeted interventions to support student reading success. This position is full-time, onsite, with opportunities for renewal next school year based on performance.
Minimum Requirements (Must Meet All):

Active Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certificate with a Reading Specialist endorsement

Master’s degree in Reading/Literacy or a related field

Ability to pass all required Pennsylvania background checks, including:
-
PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
-
PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
-
FBI Fingerprinting (Act 114)
-
-
Current TB test and physical as required by the district
-
Compliance with all district-specific onboarding requirements
Typical Responsibilities:
-
Provide targeted reading instruction and intervention to students at various grade levels
-
Assess literacy skills using diagnostic tools and progress monitoring systems
-
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy integration across the curriculum
-
Develop individualized reading plans and document student progress
-
Deliver small-group and one-on-one instruction using evidence-based strategies
-
Support schoolwide literacy initiatives and participate in data team meetings
-
Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and needs
