We are seeking a passionate General Education English Teacher to join our team in the New Orleans, Louisiana area. This full-time position offers 35 hours per week (7 hours daily plus 30-minute unpaid lunch) teaching high school English students through May 22, 2026. You'll play a vital role in developing students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a love for literature and effective communication. Position Details

Schedule: 35 hours per week (7 hours daily + 30-minute unpaid lunch) Duration: Immediate start through May 22, 2026 Focus: High school English instruction

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging English curriculum to high school students
  • Develop students' reading comprehension and literary analysis skills
  • Teach writing techniques including essays, creative writing, and research papers
  • Foster critical thinking through literature discussions and analysis
  • Create and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards
  • Assess student progress through various evaluation methods
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school activities
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrators
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education (DOE) Certificate required
  • TAT (Temporary Authorization to Teach) NOT accepted
  • Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, or related field
  • Experience teaching high school English preferred
  • Strong knowledge of literature, grammar, and writing instruction
  • Classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to student success and educational excellence
  • Full-time availability (35 hours per week)
