Looking for Teacher of Visually Impaired in Houston Area (K-12)

Position Type: Full-Time | On-Site
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instructional services to students with visual impairments in Houston, TX for the 2025–2026 academic year. This full-time, on-site position supports students across a K–12 caseload, helping them access the curriculum and build independence.
Responsibilities:

Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in school settings

Adapt and modify instructional materials using Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology

Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments as part of the IEP process

Collaborate with general and special education teachers to support inclusion and accessibility

Provide orientation and mobility strategies in partnership with O&M specialists
-
Monitor and document student progress and participate in IEP development and review

Educate and train staff and families on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field

Active Texas Teaching Certification with TVI endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)

Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired

Strong understanding of visual impairment and its educational impact

Prior experience in a school-based setting preferred
