Looking for Teacher of Visually Impaired in Houston Area (K-12)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instructional services to students with visual impairments in Houston, TX for the 2025–2026 academic year. This full-time, on-site position supports students across a K–12 caseload, helping them access the curriculum and build independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in school settings

  • Adapt and modify instructional materials using Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology

  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments as part of the IEP process

  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers to support inclusion and accessibility

  • Provide orientation and mobility strategies in partnership with O&M specialists

  • Monitor and document student progress and participate in IEP development and review

  • Educate and train staff and families on best practices for supporting visually impaired students

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field

  • Active Texas Teaching Certification with TVI endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired

  • Strong understanding of visual impairment and its educational impact

  • Prior experience in a school-based setting preferred

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
